Founded by King Henry VI in 1440, Eton College is one of the oldest schools in the country. The historic buildings of this Foundation are an integral part of the heritage of the British Isles and visitors are invited to experience and share the beauty and traditions of the College. Open for casual visitors between 24th March to 30th September 2007 (daily guided tours at 14.15 & 15.15) and all year round for pre-booked groups. This impressive Georgian mansion, surrounded by glorious parkland, was lovingly rescued from ruin by Lord and Lady Iliffe in the mid 1950s, when they restored the elegant interior and scoured the country salvaging 18th-century architectural fixtures and fittings. They filled their comfortable new home with fine paintings, fabrics and furniture, which can still be enjoyed by visitors today. The striking twin-towered 14th-century gatehouse of this castle, later the focus of a Civil War siege and battle, survives amid impressive earthworks.

Englefield House & Garden	Englefield Green	Historic House and Garden
The formal garden was laid out in the 17th century and the terraces and stone staircases were built in 1860. The woodland and water garden on the hill above the house was designed and planted in 1936. In 1976 the formal planting and gravel paths were removed from the terrace and a new planting scheme was put in place with the assistance of Lanning Roper. There is a small garden especially created for children where four little statues conceal hidden jets of water. The walled kitchen garden is planted with fruit trees, a large selection of vegetables, herbs, salads, roses, lavender and sweetpeas.

Berkshire's dynamic contribution to aviation history is graphically re-captured at the museum. Run as a charitable trust, the museum is at the historic site of Woodley Airfield, near Reading, U.K. - once the centre of a thriving aircraft industry. Miles and Handley Page aircraft built at Woodley are being re-constructed and exhibited along with fascinating pictorial records and priceless archives. The museum welcomes group visits and runs an active educational programme for schools, linked to National Curriculum requirements, demonstrating the development of aviation techniques.

Runnymede is a famous historical site which witnessed, in 1215, King John's sealing of Magna Carta. Set within the beautiful natural landscape are various memorials by Maufe, Jellicoe and Lutyens.
